We've Been Here!

Parents and Friends,

We're coming to you live from the parking lot of a hotel near West Meck High School where we are staying. Why, you ask? Because we DON'T have Internet access at the school!

So, we arrived safely on Saturday! Everyone is enjoying their new digs at the high school, with the guys sharing a spacious classroom with New Salem Baptist from Limestone, Tennessee. The guys are also getting to experience Disaster Relief portable showers (like the ones used by workers following 9/11).

Everyone worshipped with their work crews on Sunday at various churches throughout the city of Charlotte. While some visited small, country churches (like Shawn), others worshipped with African-American churches (like Tim) and still others at more traditional Southern Baptist churches like that visited by Steve Harwood (with the exception of the pastor of the church playing the drums! Imagine Pastor Lee playing the drums at FRC!)

Monday, we settled into our crews and began our work week. Each evening we have fantastic worship services led by a cool praise band of college students. Already, several people at work sites have made professions of faith. We are having awesome devotion and sharing times with our students!

PS...due to limited access, this blog will only be updated when we can make at trip to the parking lot of hotel!

Blessings...and keep praying for us!

It's Time for World Changers!

Believe it or not, this is the first time World Changers has come to Charlotte! 10/40 students from First Redeemer Church have the opportunity to impact the work of the Kingdom during our week in Charlotte, but for years to come! Many times the first week in a host city determines whether a group will be invited back. We want to be a great witness for Christ!

Shawn and I are excited about the commitment your student has made to sacrifice a week of his/her summer to serve the Lord! The Charlotte community is excited about World Changers and the work at hand. Please pray that we might we awesome and worthy witnesses for Christ! We are sure that at the end of the project these neighborhoods will be changed for eternity and perhaps your student's life will be changed as well.

We all look forward to a life changing week! --Tim
